Trying to make sense of the horror in Gaza, and yet to find a reason why it is happening. I dont believe their security angle, and certainly not their claim that this nightmare will bring about peace. I somehow cant believe that the tiny Gaza strip, with its limited resources, and its starving weary inhabitants are in anyway a threat to one of the mightiest militaries in the world. Are their elected representatives, Hamas, honestly such a worry to the state of Israel, and her ally, the ominous USA?
The shear brutality and inhumanity of this latest attack has succeeded in removing the blinkers off a former soldier in the IDF, Avi Shlaim, who is currently an academic in Oxford. He also tries to make sense of the onslaught, and comes the closest to I think exposing the true agenda of the Zionist regime:
“The declared aim of the war is to weaken Hamas and to intensify the pressure until its leaders agree to a new ceasefire on Israel’s terms. The undeclared aim is to ensure that the Palestinians in Gaza are seen by the world simply as a humanitarian problem and thus to derail their struggle for independence and statehood.”
“The army top brass had been champing at the bit to deliver a crushing blow to Hamas in order to remove the stain left on their reputation by the failure of the war against Hezbollah in Lebanon in July 2006.”
700 Palestinians murdered by Israel in Gaza (more than 215 children & 89 women) & 3100 injured.
